We've had lots of fun swimming at my sister Susan's place this summer. Her complex has a really nice pool and hot tub. She would meet us at lunch to give us the key so we could go on a weekday which was great because that usually meant we were the only ones at the pool. The kids really enjoy riding around the pool with the different floating toys and are pretty good at taking turns. Of course, my favorite part of these days is that we always decide to go out for frozen yogurt afterward. Yum!
Running back to Susie's place. Don't you love how kids think running is so much fun.

Centennial Farm and other fun places
My friend Kristi will be going back to work soon after her maternity leave ends, so Bodhi and I have been enjoying spending time with her and Vivian to explore some fun places. It is so cute to see our little kids interact with each other.
Another trip was to the Natural history museum. Both of the kids loved running around the museum and I do mean this literally as they just chased each other around through the various halls. We did get them to sit to watch the dinosaur show, which was a big hit and we got to see all the beautiful butterflies flying around the butterfly exhibit.
Another day was spent at the LA Zoo (we are really enjoying that membership!). It was quite a warm day and once the kids found the water misters they spent most of their time running after each other trying to cool off. We did manage to see a few animals though-the hippos, monkeys, lions (who incidentally, are always sleeping every time we visit) and the rhinos.
We really liked visiting Centennial farm. There is a big red barn and of course they have a lot of farm animals. We fed some goats and walked around the farm to see all the animals. They have pigs and sheep and chickens, oh my! We also walked through the fruit and vegetable garden on the property.

Little Drummer Boy
While at Miles and Sherry's house, Bodhi took to the drums to wow us with his musical stylings. I think he's already surpassed me in talent.
Play some Skynyrd, man! Freebird!

bodhi's first movie
We took Bodhi to the movie theater to see Toy Story 3. Both Ray and I were really excited to take him to his first movie in the Theater. We weren't sure how he would do, if he would sit the whole time, but he was really great. He did get up a few times alternating sitting in his seat and sitting on his Daddy's lap. But we all got to see the entire movie and it was sooo good! I know this is gonna sound crazy but I actually cried. It had a few touching moments though and of course now that I have Bodhi, I think about those moments when my son will be old enough to move away to college and it makes me a little weepy. For now I will just enjoy that he is still only 2 and we have many more movies to enjoy together and so many other firsts.

life is simply...
a bowl full of cherries! or a bucket full in this case. We went absolutely cherry crazy this year. My parents wanted to go cherry picking and invited us to join them. We met them at this cherry farm in leona valley. We all had a lot of fun picking the cherries and Bodhi liked picking them too! Ray and I could not stop. Each tree had better cherries than the tree before and we couldn't help but pick just a few more. Before we knew it we had picked six pounds of cherries. We thought we'd have plenty to eat and enough to bake a cherry pie. Ray really loves cherry pie and I don't ever buy cherry pie, so he was planning to make one. Well it didn't happen cause we ended up eating all the cherries in about two weeks. So Sherry and I decided to go again, just us and the kids. This time we picked rainer and bings. Mind you I was picking mostly by myself since Bodhi and the the other kids decided it was more fun to run around the orchard than pick cherries this time, and I ended up bringing home almost 8 pounds of cherries! whoa, i really went crazy. But we did end up making that cherry pie.
