Fire Truck!

OMG BRB FIRETRUCK!!

Yesterday, Bodhi and I went down to the bluffs to play. There were a lot of firemen out practicing with equipment and they had several fire trucks parked along the road. Bodhi thought they were super-cool and ran toward them as soon as he was out of his stroller. Pretty soon the firemen came back and saw how excited he was about their fire engine. "Everyone likes fire trucks," I said. "I know I do!" replied the fireman. They were really nice to Bodhi and even gave him a little plastic fire hat. Firemen are so cool.

Sister's Wedding

The Bride

This past weekend we all took a trip up to Hanford for my sister's wedding. It was *very* warm there, but she pulled everything together nicely and everyone had a good time. Bodhi loved playing outdoors in the park that day and was curious about everything, which made him quite a handful.

Who me? Get into trouble?

Despite having a really long day and being up way past bedtime, Bodhi was pretty good the entire time. He got a little restless now and then, but you can't expect kids to be as patient as adults.

All dressed up

We were expecting to stay the night with my parents in their RV, but there were some problems with the A/C and you don't want to stay in Hanford without it, so we ended up driving back to Bakersfield where my parents put us up for the night. This ended up being for the best, however, as they made us a delicious breakfast in the morning and our drive home was that much shorter.

Thanks parents! (and Hi Grandma!)...

...and congratulations Sister!

Vivian's 1st birthday party

We went to a first birthday party this last weekend for Bodhi's friend, Vivian. She is the daughter of our good friends, Kristi and Al. It was a pool party and all the kids were having a great time, splashing and swimming. Bodhi was having lots of fun playing in the two pools. Happy Birthday Vivian!

blueberry madness

Bodhi has been all about the blueberries lately. I put out several foods and all he eats is the blueberries and then asks for more (pointing and saying "Ah, Ah"). The blueberries are quite delicious as is most of the fruit that's available at the market right now. I made some blueberry pancakes so that Bodhi would have a little something with his blueberries. The pancake recipe I used was from the Joy of Cooking. I used buttermilk instead of regular milk, and substitued 1/3 of the AP flour for whole wheat flour to make them a little better for us. I made a big batch so that we could have leftovers for breakfast the next day. Ray, Bodhi and I all thought they were quite tasty.

happy birthday daddy

Ray took the day off work for his birthday. I had to work until noon, so when I got home we drove to Marina del Rey to have lunch at Tony P's. We enjoyed looking at the boats and soaking in the sun. After lunch we took Bodhi to a nearby park. Bodhi had a great time playing at the playground and watching the planes take off. When we got home I made Ray a pineapple upside down cake for dessert. It was so nice to have a weekday together as a family to celebrate.

beach day

We had our first beach day this summer on the Friday before 4th of July. Ray and I both had the day off, so Sherry, Miles and the kids came over and we headed out with a ton of stuff! The kids had a great time, but I think we can do it better next time. First of all, I didn't put Bodhi's sunscreen on until we got there. This is a bad idea, because you get sand on your hands and then you are slathering a mixture of sunscreen and sand all over the place. And you can never really get the mixture off your hands. Secondly, I think we should leave the snacks at home. Feed the kids before we go and then just have water at the beach, otherwise sand gets into the grapes, chips, etc.. and the kids don't care, so they have their mouths filled with food and sand! yuck! oh well, I think it's mostly just me being crazy, cause the kids didn't seem to care about any of this and fully enjoyed splashing in the water and playing in the sand.
