festival of books

I had to work all weekend for the festival of books, so on Sunday Ray and Bodhi came to visit me. It was so nice to take a break and spend a little time with my family. They had Yo Gabba Gabba (which I knew nothing about before this) on the Children's stage. Bodhi seemed quite interested and liked the music. He also liked looking around at all the people and all the balloons. He would point at the balloons everytime we walked by someone who had one. We also got to walk around a bit and check out some of the booths.

Great-Grandma's Birthday!

This past weekend we went to a birthday party for my grandma, Clara which would make her Bodhi's great-grandma. There were 4 generations of her family there. Great-Grandma, 4 of her daughters (including my mom), 4 of their kids (including myself), and 7 of the great-grandkids.

Bodhi loves being outside and since the party was at a park he got to run around all day. He played on the slides, the swings, the teeter-totter, ran around in the grass playing with balls and badminton rackets, flew a kite and generally had a great time. Needless to say, he was exhausted by the time we left and slept all the way home.

Happy 85th Grandma!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter, everyone!

This Easter we spent the day with Jen's family. First we went to church where they had an egg hunt for the kids. Bodhi didn't quite get the idea, but he knew he liked those eggs and had to have them! Afterward, we all went out to lunch where they gave us free champagne! Then to Jen's parents' place for another egg hunt. And, finally, to Jen's sister, Susan's place for some dessert and chatting. A very busy day that we are still trying to recover from. Bodhi behaved himself very well for the whole day but was exhausted by the end of it.

"Okay, this is how the game works. First, I pick up a couple of these..."

...then you try to catch me!"

family time

Since Ray and I have very different work schedules so that we can both take care of Bodhi, our only day together as a family is Sundays. We usually run some kind of errand, like going to Costco or a few chores around the house and then we go out for a long walk which usually takes us to the bluffs overlooking the pacific ocean. We have had some really beautiful days lately and it makes me feel so lucky to live so close to the beach. I cherish these times with my little family. Some days I think maybe Ray should take Bodhi out for a walk by himself so that I can get some cleaning done. But then I think that it doesn't really matter that our apartment is a little messy, it is more important and more fun to spend time with the people you love most. So of course out we go to enjoy the day.
